AFC U-23 Championship: Myanmar Beats Singapore In Qualifier

Myanmar beat Singapore 2-0 on the 1st day of AFC U-23 Championship China 2018 Qualifier on Wednesday at Thuwanna Stadium.

Myanmar’s Aung Thu scored the opening goal in the 60th minute – Myanmar got the 2nd goal by Hlaing Bo Bo in the 3rd minute of added time.

Myanmar team could not play well in the first half due to the rain, but it could be fixed in the 2nd half, head coach Gerd Zeise said.

As the 2nd half was the tough time for both teams, it played hard and was followed by punishment … red and yellow cards. For Singapore team, they now need to win the rest two matches against Australia and Brunei. They will more emphasize preparations for the next match against Australia, according to the head coach Richard Francis Emile Tardy.

The match had an attendance of 13,200 fans - they were pleased about the Myanmar team’s victory.

Myanmar team will play against Brunei team on the 21st of July at Thuwanna Stadium. In this Group (F) qualifier, Australia beat Brunei 2-0.
