Empire State Building goes dark for victims of Irma

13 September 2017

New York City's iconic Empire State Building went dark to pay tribute to those affected by Hurricane Irma. Irma ravaged the Caribbean and the southeastern United States over the last week. The death toll from Irma, previously ranked as one of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record and the second major hurricane to strike the U.S. mainland this season, climbed to more than five dozen. Of those, 43 were killed in the Caribbean and at least 18 in the Southeastern United States.
