Forum on economy and cooperation between Myanmar and Yunnan Province of China was brought in Yangon on Monday.
It is the 6th time, initiated by the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) and Yunnan Provincial General Chamber of Commerce (YPGCC).
It aims to promote investment and border trade between the two countries as the forum emphasized on electricity, agriculture, and automobile and so on.
Myanmar officials also share about opportunities as well as knowledge and potential of Myanmar Investment law at the event.
ASSISTANT MANAGER, DISTRIBUTION DEPARTMENT (YESC), AUNG TUN LIN said “
Myanmar has lots of potential to invest especially in electricity sector. Electricity demand is getting higher and higher year by year. So we will need more sub-stations as well as infrastructure for distribution. China will know more about Myanmar than others as we are neighbors.”
It also provided business matching session aiming to create network for the better cooperation.
As Yunnan province is a border of Myanmar, local entrepreneurs think the event as a great opportunity for both countries.
CHAIRMAN, ENGINEERING AND GENERAL TRADING CO., LTD., NYEIN AUNG said “China has huge population and it is the 2nd largest economy and market in the world. So there are opportunities for us for being neighboring countries.”
ENTREPRENEUR, QIAO WEI RESTAURANT, CHEN QING said “I'm now learning our opportunities and potential here in Myanmar. Now the event will help me a lot. I hope to work together with Myanmar as we are neighboring countries.”
China owned 26% of Myanmar’s foreign investment. And it has nearly 200 businesses according to official figures.
