Guatemala arrests ex-president, ex-finance minister in graft probe

14 February 2018

The former Guatemalan President and a former finance minister were arrested yesterday as part of a local corruption investigation, the public prosecutor's office said. The former finance minister is currently chairman of Oxfam International, prosecutors said. The corruption investigation is looking at buses bought during the former president's administration for a large public transport programme. The eight other people arrested were Colom's former ministers who signed the deal to purchase the buses.
