Men's hockey team of Russians playing under Olympic flag departs for Pyeongchang Games

6 February 2018

The men's ice hockey team of Russians departed for Pyeongchang for the Winter Olympic Games yesterday. The athletes have passed tests by the International Olympic Committee to be invited to compete. However, they will be described as "Olympic Athletes from Russia" with no Russian national flags or insignias allowed. Russia was banned from sending a national Olympic team to Pyeongchang following a doping scandal. But individual athletes determined to be clean of performance-enhancing drugs can compete under the Olympic flag.
