Mountain Bike Competition: Marking The 70th Anniversary Of Union Day

As a gesture to mark the 70th Union Day, mountain bike competition was held in the Hlawga Reservoir area on Sunday.
There’re five categories; women open class, U-22 men, between 22 and U-40 men, between 40 and U-45 men and above 55 men in the competition.
From Women Open Class to between 22 and U-40 men are of junior level and the rest 2 are of senior level.
Junior level bikers are to take the whole route one time while the seniors are to do twice.
1st Prize Winner, Junior Mountain Bike (Men), Saw Eh Khu: It was a good ride and I’m very happy for the win. I trained for this while I was on a trip last week.
3rd Prize Winner, Junior Mountain Bike ( Women), Thet Mon Aung : I had to try a lot as there were high and low places along the route.
The competition was organized by Myanmar Bicycle Federation, Sports and Physical Education Department and Bicycle Network Myanmar.
President, Yangon Region Bicycle Sub Committee, Ko Ko Gyi: We hold such a competition like this more and more - it helps the bikers improve their skills and also promotes the mountain bike sports. I’d like to say cycling is good for health and for environment too - it also saves fuel.
240 enthusiasts participated in the 11-mile and 22- mile-long mountain bike competition. The prize money ranged from 50,000 kyats to 200,000 kyats.
