Peace Music Festival: 1,200 Contestants Participated In Yangon Audition

Audition of Peace Music Festival has been taken place in Yangon on Thursday.

Yangon is the 6th city of hosting it, receiving over 1,200 contestants for the audition. Among them, 6 contestants will be selected for level-1.

35 to 50 contestants will roughly be selected for the level-2 competition which will be held in Mandalay. Then 10 contestants will be selected for level-3 competitions in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon.

The next host cities for level-1 competition will be Sittwe, Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Hpa-An and Kalay.

Deputy Director General(Rtd.), Myanma Radio and Television, Win Kyi said “As the government has been working on peace process in terms of holding talks by the State Counsellor, it has been promoted in many ways among the public. So we’ve seen that the public knows they need to participate to achieve peace process through this kind of event, Peace Music Festival.”

Contestants appeared enjoying the audition although they were nervous before performing.

Contestant, Wai Yan said “I enjoy singing very much. I used to play guitar. So people around me have seen me as the one who is  so enthusiastic and they encouraged me. Then I competed in it. I was nervous at first. Now I’m very happy and satisfied that I passed the audition stage.”

Contestant, Sa Ye’ Aung said “Actually, I was really nervous and I thought that I couldn’t pass the audition stage. But now I passed and it gives me strength a lot. I will try with my best for the competition.”

Cash prize ranging from 10 to 30 million kyat will be presented to top 3 finalists. And the rest 7 finalists will also be given 3 million of consolation cash prize.

The competition of level-1 for Yangon will be held on August 13th and 20th with the live broadcast on MRTV.
