Rendering Assistance: China To Provide Relief Aid For Displaced People In Rakhine State

China welcomed the Government’s implementation to provide assistance to the people in Rakhine State. Chinese Ambassador Hong Liang said during his meeting with Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Win Myat Aye in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

China also offered to render assistance to the affected people in Maungtaw area. The Union Minister expressed that the humanitarian assistance was provided through the Red Cross Movement. Coordination meetings have been held with the donor countries like Denmark, the United States, Britain, Australia and the European Commission.

At present, over 26,000 displaced people are taking shelters at the relief camps in Sittway. Food, education and health services were already arranged to provide for them. Arrangements have also made for the return of IDPs to their original places.
