Myanmar Football Federation organized KBZ Bank Women’s League 2017-2018 kicked off at Aung San stadium, on Wednesday.
This is the second edition for women’s league and it is aimed to improve the skills of Myanmar women's football teams and to promote their standard as well as to help the quality of referees.
General Secretary, Myanmar Football Federation, Ko Ko Thein said “Myanmar Football Federation hosted women league in accordance with the guidance of World Football Federation. So, we are targeting Asia level competitions to participate successfully. The rank of Myanmar Women team stands at 10 among the 47 Asia countries and at 44 in World level. So, we are trying to emphasize to this women football team. We will host many competitions and hope to get the upper hand over the rival teams. We are preparing to offer Japan coach and conduct joint training programs with them.”
The women’s league included eight teams: Sports & Physical Education FC, Thitsar Arman FC, Myawady FC, ISPE FC, Zwekapin FC, University FC, YREO and Gandamar FC.
Player, Myawaddy FC, Aye Aye Moe said “I interested in football playing since childhood and come from Ayeyawaddy region. I played in Myawaddy FC for about 3 years. I also played last year women's league. I played States and Regions football matches and regional level as well. I am very delighted to organize such kind of women's league as it provides to promote our ability. I want to request the football lover to encourage and cheer our women’s teams.”
Each team will play 12 matches during the period of 7-week, 24 events for first round and 24 events for second round in two-part schedule of the league. All of the matches will be held at Aung San Stadium in Yangon.
