World's first passenger drone makes maiden public flight in China

7 February 2018

In southern China, the world's first passenger drone made its first public flight yesterday. The drone is electrically powered and  can carry a single passenger weighing up to 100 kg for a 23-minute flight. It can fly  at sea level at a speed of 100 km per hour, Chinese tech company EHang, Inc. said.

The company says the drone has been tested over 1,000 times. It is designed to withstand moderate gales with winds of up to 50 km per hour. EHang says the final commercial product will fly into the market possibly within the year.
