5 Years Of War: A Call For Peace, Justice And Accountability In Myanmar

A ceremony to call for peace, justice and accountability in Myanmar after 5 years of war in Kachin State was held at Summit Parkview Hotel in Yangon. It brings the exhibition lots of memories to recall. 

Organizers said the ceremony aims to raise awareness of the sufferings being felt by the local victims to the government and to address the issues under international laws.   

Organizer , Maran Jaw Gun: This exhibition aimed to request for no more war and to share the in-depth  feeling of IDPs through our artworks. The civil war is over but there are  many things that need to be addressed. There are over 100,000 victims. Today's exhibition is to let everyone and government  see what happened in Kachin State. We will be discuss with government and National NGOs what they're going to do in Kachin state. 

Every part of the installations and painting are showing the life style of the people in Kachin state and the Kachin ethnic in future. 

Artist, Ko Z: My installations and the artworks is to make people to remember the war in Kachin state  and the 5th anniversary for five years of war. I'd like to bring the peace for the people and this all about the installations is refers to the war victims in Kachin state. I hope for the places of war area will be better life soon. 

Visitor, Patrick Kum Jaa Lee: This kind of artworks can depict the real life of the war victims, and you can feel through photos and the installation are telling you their life and what they missing. Some of paintings are really show the children life and their future. They have their own life and future, but they can't available to have what they needed. 

Although much of the world has expressed excitement over Myanmar’s political transition, communities throughout Kachin and northern Shan state have been living with human abuses and displacement for the last five years, said that association.
