8th Edition: Best Photo-Story Awarding Ceremony
The best photo-story awarding ceremony of 8th Yangon Photo Festival took place at the France Institute in Yangon, Saturday.
Yangon Photo Festival is the annual international event in Myanmar and this is the 8th edition. The event is divided into two categories: professional and amateur level. There are 21 photo-essays out of 80 were screened for the festival. Among them, two were selected for the best photo-essays.
Project Director, French Institute, Sebostien Bris: "YPF we are very put of that photo journalist from Myanmar are really keen and very proud of as well to be part of this festival. I think for them to be a recognized and to won a prize is very important."
By holding Such kind of competitions, the new generation photographers have a chance to show their talents and connect with international level.
Member, Jury of International photo, Hossein Farmani: “You see amazing photographs from different fields and different aspect of life. This was really done well, really told the story really well. That was looking for we really looking for great story tellers and that can also a photographer.”
The photo-story highlights people emotional life, culture and the story related to environmental and social issues from different parts of the country.
Contestant, Photo Essay (Professional level), Thet Htoo: I interested in taking documentary photo and Freelance photos. I competed in photo essay about the life of limestone workers from Mandalay Region. It mentions how they are struggling for their survival. I hope to win prize from this photo essay.
The best photo-story awards for professional and amateur levels as well as special jury award were presented. The winners will have a chance to attend the world’s biggest international photo workshop and festival in France.
