Better Facilities: New Rail Service Introduces Along Yangon-Pyay Route

No. (71) up and (72) down Express trains are now running with new locomotives and carriages along Yangon-Pyay railway section as of Saturday.

A total of 39 new carriages will carry 600 passengers, the number larger than the existing ones, the General Manager of Myanma Railways said. 

The substitution with these new carriages aims to provide better services, to ensure safety and convenience for the passengers, he added.   

General Manager, Myanma Railways (Lower Myanmar), Htun Aung Thin: These new carriages are cleaner and better services will be provided. So I hope the passengers will be more comfortable and satisfied with these new carriages. For safeties, it has air bag system which makes the passenger more comfortable and safe. While we are providing better services, we'd like to request the passengers to maintain the good condition of the coaches by not destroying things. 

Currently, 8 Express trains are running along Yangon-Mandalay route, and one each along Yangon- Pyay and Yangon-Bagan-Pakokku routes respectively. More new carriages are planned to be substituted in those railway sections during 2016 and 2017.
