Challenge Fights: Local Champions Fight Against Foreign Opponents
Audience of Myanmar traditional boxing has enjoyed the challenge matches of famous traditional boxers at TheinPhyu Stadium in Yangon on Sunday.
This Sunday, Champion Tun Tun Min fights against Canadian opponent Dave Leduc, who was recently crowned Lethwei World Championship in last August.
Tun Tun Min is the current Champion of Myanmar traditional boxing, and the two boxers met for the first time.
For the Canadian boxer, this is his second fight in Myanmar traditional boxing, after his first fight with Too Too in last August.
Champion, Myanmar Traditional Boxing, Tun Tun Min: I’m now ready for this fight. I will try my best. As my opponent is tall and his punch will be powerful, I focused on that part in my training.
Champion, 1st Lethwei World Championship, Dave Leduc: “I'm always to fight and I have some stuff that never seen before. So we're gonna have a good match. I tried a lot for this fight. I hope it's ready.”
The main fight between Champion Tun Tun Min and Dave Leduc was intense until final round and ended with draw so it didn’t seem meeting with audience’s satisfaction.
Audience, Min Kyaw Zaw: We thought Tun Tun Min would have won over Dave Leduc but it ended with draw. I enjoyed all matches and all are good, I think. For me, we like traditional boxing very much so we even came from Mawlaymyaing to see this fight.
Aside from main fight, Too Too could show his best performance back in this fight against Thailand counterpart Bernion and knock down him at the 3rd round.
Gold Medalist, 2013 SEA Games (Boxing), Too Too: I’d like to say I will try my best in this fight so that all traditional boxing audience can enjoy and be satisfied unlike the last I couldn’t give my best in front of them.
