China, U.S. hold first high-level joint dialogue on fighting cybercrime

China and the United States on Tuesday held the 1st China-U.S. high-level joint dialogue on fighting cybercrime in Washington, D.C. The dialogue was co-chaired by visiting Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson and U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch. Guo said both sides should use the dialogue mechanism as a main channel of communication to respond to issues of common concern timely and effectively. The U.S. representatives said both sides should strengthen information exchanges, make joint efforts to fight cyber terrorism and commercial espionage and give full play to the dialogue mechanism. Both sides have agreed to set up a hotline mechanism and reached a wide consensus on some cybercrime cases, cyber anti-terrorism cooperation and law enforcement training.
