Compensation: Social Security Board Provide Over 6.2 million Kyats To Decease Family

Social Security Board under the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security paid 6.2 million kyats compensation to the family of a deceased worker, on Sunday. 

A Junior electrical engineer, Ma Hnin Nwe Nwe Htun from Thaketa offshore supply base under Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise was killed in October last year due to car accident at the workplace. General manager from Thaketa offshore supply base, said this is the first time accident in the workplace compound.

GENERAL MANAGER, OFFSHORE SUPPLY BASE, THAKETA (MOGE), KYAW NYAN TUN: We have not faced this kind of accidents before. We felt very sad for her and it was our great losses. Today, Social security board compensated the cash to the family of our deceased employee and we really thank to the officials for their compensation. 

The youngest sister of the deceased worker said the compensation will be supportive for their family. 

Pyae Phyo Thant: I'm her youngest sister. My sister is the only supporter of our family, as well as very valuable for our family. There is no word to express my sadness on her death. We will use this compensation for our parent.

According to the 2012 Social Security Law, there are six social security systems for those labors who have social security cards and the system will cover medical expenses, sickness and maternity leave for employees, as well as compensation for the deceased and injured workers.

DEPUTY MINISTER, MINISTRY OF LABOUR, EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL SECURITY, H.E. HTIN AUNG: Today, we will pay over 6.2 million kyat as the compensation for the deceased worker from the Thaketa offshore supply Base. We’ve already gave out the compensation to the families of 132 deceased workers who were died at their worksites, from April 2014 to February 2016.  

According to the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security, there were about 850,000 workers who registered for social security cards and over 600,000 smart cards have already been issued.
