Audience from Yangon and Hpa-an will have to enjoy mixed percussion performance by professionals from Asian and Europe.
Organized by Goethe Institute, International Percussion Festival will be held for its second time in Yangon and Hpa-an.
Percussionists from Myanmar will perform together with professional percussionists from the Europe and Malaysia.
IT-CLERK, GOETHE-INSTITUTE MYANMAR, JOSHUA PYAE SONE OO: We aim to show that our local artists can keep abreast with international artists by playing together each traditional musical instrument. Kayin and Rakhine traditional Community will also perform in this coming festival. The artists will perform new kind of music by mixing various musical instruments from each country.
Myanmar percussionists are satisfied to have a chance for cultural exchange opportunities, and said that creating new music together with international artists is a challenge.
PERCUSSIONIST, HEIN TINT SAING WINE, THAUNG HTIKE: Their music has tempos but ours don’t have much. So we have to take care of it in playing together with them. As our playing style and music is different from them, we have to try to give the taste of Myanma music to them first and then try to cooperate with them.
The second International percussion Festival will be held in Yangon on 4th of this month and 6th in Hpa-an of Kayin State.
