Destruction in Syria as war's 5th anniversary looms

Almost five years since the conflict began, Syrian rebels say they shot down a warplane over western Syria while the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights say airstrikes hit Aleppo. Jillian Kitchener from Reuters reports. Reporter, Reuters, Jillian Kitchener .... The war continues to rage in Syria. Rebels say insurgents shot down a warplane over Hama Province, Saturday. But it remains unclear whether a missile or anti-aircraft guns were used. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported that the al-Salheen neighborhood of Aleppo was hit by airstrikes, Friday. Video purports to show the aftermath. This man -- a member from the Syria Civil Defense -- says military planes fired airstrikes after Friday prayers, killing ten people and trapping others in the rubble. Another unidentified person said a whole family had been killed. While the death toll here remains uncertain, officials say more than 250,000 people have been killed since the war began almost five years ago. As that anniversary looms, peace talks restart to try to find an end to the bloodshed.
