Fighting Crime:50 New Patrol Cars To Secure Yangon

The Yangon Region Police Force will deploy patrol cars for the first time in a move to effectively prevent crimes, as part of the new government’s 100 day plan.

The 100 day plan also includes prevention of drugs, release of remaining political prisoners, awareness programs and reducing crimes, with an aim to promote the rule of law in Yangon Region. Missions have been implemented since the 1st May.

About 50 police patrol cars are set to watch the city 24 hours, especially at crowded areas like banks, hospitals, shopping malls and so on. Since May 1 nearly 500 crimes were detected in Yangon. If proven effective, the system would be carried out even after the 100 day plan period, Police Major Hla Wai said

POLICE MAJOR, YANGON REGION POLICE FORCE, POLICE MAJOR HLA WAI: We set our missions in order to promote the rule of law more effectively. Not only for the 100 days plan, we will review both strong and weak points after the period, and if we found the mobile system was effective, it would be carried out continuously for the interest of the public

Crimes in Yangon mostly occur in 8 townships including Bahan, Kamayut, Hlaing Thar Yar, Insein and so on, according to the Yangon Region Police Force.
