First Visit: Angelina Jolie Pitt In Yangon

Hollywood celebrity Angelina Jolie Pitt continued her first humanitarian tour in Myanmar as UN Special Envoy for Refugee Issues.
On Saturday, Jolie together with Chairperson of National League for Democracy Daw Aung San Suu Kyi visited Hlaingthaya Township and met with women factory workers at their hostel.
During her visit, she had already met with participants in the “She Leads” voter education programs, which is implemented by Yaung Chi Thit, with the support of the International Foundation for Election Systems (IFES), aims to address the lack of women’s leadership in political and decision-making processes at all levels.
She also visited IDP camps in Myitkyina of Kachin State and met with people there. Angelina Jolie Pitt is in the country as the goodwill ambassador of UNHCR, to carry out engagements on preventing sexual violence, and to understand the current condition of Myanmar, especially in conflict affected states.
She has met with President U Thein Sein and other high ranking officials in Nay Pyi Taw on July 29.
