Health Support: UK Assists For Treatment To Malaria And TB

UK government together with other international partners will help for the elimination of the malaria by 2030 in South East Asia countries including Myanmar.

The announcement was made during the three-day visit of UK Minister of State for the Department for International Development Rory Stewart in Myanmar on Thursday. 

The support will also help cut malaria deaths by providing 450,000 testing kits and lifesaving treatment for 11,000 people suffering from malaria and also distributing two million mosquito nets. 

During his stay in Yangon, the Minister visited Tuberculosis Center at Yangon General Hospital.  

MINISTER OF STATE, DEPARTMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT , H.E. RORY STEWART : “One of the most important things that we are looking at is health doing a lot of work particularly in tuberculosis and malaria. So this morning we have visited tuberculosis clinic to look at the work there and we are also providing additional support now from the British government on malaria for e.g. 2 million more malaria less... I feel very positive about Myanmar and also about Burmese people going through very interesting period. Things are getting better and the world wants to support you and help.”

The Minister also scheduled to meet with a range of Myanmar Government Ministers in Nay Pyi Taw.
