Singapore Business delegation seeks investment opportunities in Myanmar, hoping to have better understanding on the country’s economy.
Singapore Business Federation brings 46 participants from 33 companies to interact with local business community.
It aims to discuss business opportunities between Myanmar and Singapore and how both sides can cooperate in the future.
Chairman, Singapore Business Federation, Teo Siong Seng: “Over the last few years, among the survey of my members, Myanmar is the country their most interested in. It's a good thing. So I think it's important that we carry on the momentum brining delegations to Myanmar.”
This is the first business matching between Singapore and Myanmar after the new Government took office in March this year.
70 local businessmen from various sectors attended the event, and discussed investment opportunities in a wide range of sector including real estate, education, manufacturing, and trading sectors.
Vice President, UMFCCI, Zaw Min Win: ….As the economic liberalization has become since 2011, we are really easy in doing trade. And foreign investors are also waiting for how trading and investment policy will reform as they are interested to invest in Myanmar in this situation. So if the government can make the investment policy more clear and transparent, it will be much easier to do trading and more foreign investment will come, I think.
Singapore was the second largest investor in Myanmar after China in last year and trade volume was improved by10 percent from 2014 to 2015.
