Kpop Cover Festival: Korean Embassy Organized The Event

The Korean Embassy organized the final event of Myanmar Kpop Cover Festival 2016  in Yangon, Wednesday.  7 vocal teams and 9 dancer teams participated in the competition for the title of best cover singer and dancer of the year 2016. Aung Thu Tun attended the event to file this report. 

This festival is the preliminary stage in Myanmar and is also a part of the K-pop World festival. The titles for best singer and dancer of the year 2016 were selected from 16 finalists and the first two winning teams will have a chance to go to Korea.

Political Officer (Third Secretary), Embassy of the Republic of Korea , Shin Joung -hoon : “We want to give them a chance to go to Korea and the final stage on September in Taiwan and Korea. ... K-pop and K-drama is the hot in Korean young generation culture. I want Myanmar young people to show Korean people also that they are also talented and then they are very energetic and most of all they love Korean culture. So, it can pull relationship together.”

The winners s are very excited for their performance and they said they love to sing and dance with K-pop music. 

1st Prize Winner (Dance), Team XO-1 , Sitt: We love to sing and dance about K-pop. We formed a Team XO-1 with Myanmar K-poppers. This is our hobby and we also give time for our education.

1st Prize Winner  (Dance), Team XO-1,  Castor :  We neither win or lose, we will accept the results what we done. We feel so excited when the judges announce the results. We are very happy when we heard that our team is the winners for the competition. Our dream come true as we expect.

Honey Htun Wai won the best singer award with the song entitle, “You Are My Everything” in the event.

Singing Champion, Honey Htun Wai : I sang the song, “You are my everything” by Gummy.  I always listen all k-pop songs as I like all. I always think how to present the songs with different versions. I am very lucky for winning the 1st prize. 

The Korean Embassy hopes the festival will contribute to enriching cultural exchange between Korea and Myanmar through mutual understanding and boosting relations.
