At least 20 killed in SW Pakistan hospital blast

The death toll from a bomb that ripped through a hospital in southwest Pakistan on Monday has risen to 40, a provincial minister said. "The last information we had was 40 dead but it may increase," said, health minister for Balochistan province, after the blast in the provincial capital Quetta. The blast came after mourners including journalists and lawyers gathered at the hospital following the fatal shooting of a senior local lawyer, officials said. "A number of lawyers and some journalists had gathered at the hospital following the death of the president of the Balochistan Bar Association in a separate shooting incident early this morning," the home secretary of the province said. The lawyer was targeted by two unknown gunmen as he left his home in the morning for work. There were no immediate claims of responsibility for either attack yet.
