Letter To The King : Group Demands Another Round Of Trials On Koh Tao Case

The confederation of Trade Unions Myanmar (CTUM) sent a letter on the Kho Tao murder case to the King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. They sent the letter via Thai Embassy in Yangon on Tuesday. The letter aims to urge Thailand in granting another round of trials about the said case. 

The migrant workers from Myanmar Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Tun were charged with the killing of David Miller, 24, and the rape and murder of Hannah Witheridge, 23 on a beach in Koh Tao in September last year. They were found guilty and sentenced to death by Koh Samui Provincial Court.

CHAIRMAN ,CONFEDERATION OF TRADE UNIONS MYANMAR ,MAUNG MAUNG : “…if you look at it at the international point of view, we are talking about international human rights and we are talking about let's say the fair expression between the legal system. So all these things together I think would help for a new trial to take place...”

Yesterday, a network of local young people claimed to have collected over 27,000 signatures across the country demanding for justice for the charged Myanmar migrants.
