Myanmar Petrol chemical Enterprise under the Ministry of Electricity and Energy issued temporary license to the LPG shops as part of the Ministry’s 100 days project.

There are five types of license from A to E, and among them, the ministry is issuing D and E licenses which is especially for retailers.

This temporary license will expire on December this year, and if they do the business in line with the regulations, they will be given permanent license.

The Ministry is also giving awareness on how to keep the gas cylinder, and if the retailers do not follow the ministries guidelines, they will be taken action.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR , MYANMA PETRO CHEMICAL ENTERPRISE, MAUNG MAUNG THAW : We are giving this to all States and Regions of Myanmar for free in a systematic ways. In Yangon there are 4 districts and we have 186 applicants and today we are giving the license for Southern and Northern. We will give continuously to all of the applicants. We are expecting that by doing this everything will be in a systematic way and it is also safe for the environment.

In Yangon Region, about 186 LPG shops applied for the license and hoping that it could bring the positive outcome for their business. Retailer like Aung Naing Than is very happy about the news as he thinks it leads his business to be in legal and more developed.

RETAILER , HLAING THARYAR TOWNSHIP, AUNG NAING THAN : Now we can get the license legally and we dun feel bad for giving the tax for that. As we are just the small business, it is really good to have the legal license and I am happy for that.

The ministry will make follow up activities to all the shops which got the temporary license in October and November, and after that permanent license will be issued to the retailers if they met the criteria.
