London Film Festival

The London Film Festival opened with 'A United Kingdom', the first opening night gala movie to be directed by a black woman who took six years with belief and passion of absolute drive. Director Amma Asante said, “We are all aware that racism hasn't gone away. There is absolutely a lack of diversity in the industry. We've been doing a lot of talking, what all of us from diverse backgrounds want to see now is an industry that more or less stops talking about it and starts taking action towards it and starts moving forward." Lead actress Rosamund Pike said, "Look at Amma, she deserves every success she gets. It's not easy being a woman in this business, it really isn't. I think they're doubly testing of a woman. And as you know it's also hard from an actor’s point of view to be a person of colour."
