More Shows: MWD To Expand Production

Military-backed TV station, Myawaddy Television is launching more shows as it tries expanding its reach in Myanmar. Myawaddy Television started to run on the 27th of March, 1995 under the Ministry of Defense. The objectives are to inform, educate, entertain and organize to the public and armed forces.

[SOUND BITE] Managing  Director, KTN United (Myanmar) Co., Ltd, Kyaw San: "The first one is we'd like to present our extension programs to the public and another one is to extend the transmission of Myawady TV program. We could produce only in 3 places: Yangon, Mandalay and Pathein in 2015 through analogue and digital system. Starting 27th March of this year, we had extended transmission to another 8 places. Currently, MWD programs are being broadcast with 46 transmitters across the nation."

With the support of Kantana Group Public Company Limited based in Thailand,  TV series and programs will be produced and it intends to produce more local TV series.

I am also proud of performing in the character of Myanmar King Ba Yint Naung. It's really good in making a movie with Myanmar artists. I hope I will perform with Myanmar artists later."

MWD is operating not only as a TV channel but also as a publishing house for fiction and non-fiction books.
