Music Concert : TPO Will Stage In Yangon On Aug 26

The Thai Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) from Bangkok will stage a music concert in Yangon the last week of this month.

This is also an activity to celebrate the 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Accession to the Throne of His Majesty of the King of Thailand and the 7th Cycle Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen of Thailand. 

This concert is a cooperative project of the royal Thai embassy, the embassy of Germany and the Goethe institute, with the goal of sharing musical excellence with Thailand musicians in Myanmar.

Ambassador , Royal Thai Embassy , H.E. Pisanu Suvanajata : “This is the probably the largest symphonic orchestra from foreign countries ever organize in Myanmar…. We want to our cultural cooperation to carry on and further expended because through culture people will have greater understanding about each other.”  

The concert hopes to promote closer relations and cultural exchange between Myanmar and Thailand and the Thai musicians are very excited to perform a concert in their neighboring country. 

Founder Director , Dean of Mahidol University college of Music , Dr. Sugree Charoensook: “For us, very excited to come and to perform for Myanmar. We are very pleased that we can perform Myanmar music because we can see the feeling of the people from Myanmar truth of the music itself.” 

According to the Director of Music Department of MRTV, this is a good opportunity to share experiences among local and international musicians.

Director (Music Department), Myanmar Radio and Television , Toe Kyaw: This is the first time to work music concert with Thailand. We also hope better relation with Thailand through the event and we’d like to share experiences with the international musicians.

Director , Goethe Institute Myanmar , Franz Xaver Augustin : “I hope that the musicians here to tried to become a professional as the one from TPO, that they get encourage to study for them, train for them, to learn from them, to develop the their proficiency that is what I hope.”

The Thai philharmonic orchestra with 95 international musicians will stage three concerts in Myanmar. The concert will stage in Yangon on 26th of this month, on the 27 in Mandalay and on the 29th in Nay Pyi Taw.
