New Channel: CNN Signs Consultation Agreement W/ Skynet Media

CNN International and Sky Net Myanmar (Shwe Than Lwin Media Company) signed a consultation agreement to help the company launch the country’s first 24-hour local language news network, Channel One.

According to the agreement, Sky Net will receive detailed consultation and comprehensive training from CNN on all aspects of launching a news channel called Channel One, including news gathering and production, digital and technical operations, program development and best-practice management. The agreement will also provide ongoing training to both staff and journalists to Channel One from CNN.

[SOUND BITE] Vice President, CNN International, Roger Clark: "CNN will be working very closely with the people from Channel One to build network and Channel wants to build an independent fair, balance on his transparent television news network and then CNN to help them do that and that was we are going to be doing will be providing some training for Channel One and will give guidance and advice and consultancy and also affiliate of CNN news network would be able to have access to some of our content.”

This collaboration is hoped to support the development of local broadcast industry in international standard and practice.

Channel One will also broadcast up to 4 hours programs from CNN with local language.
