New Zika cases not confirmed in Miami Beach says mayor

Florida health officials have found evidence of local Zika virus transmission in Miami Beach, one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, opening a new front in the fight against the mosquito-borne virus, according to a source familiar with the investigation.  MIAMI BEACH MAYOR, PHILIP LEVINE <<< "Thank you all for being here. Let me tell you what I know. Let me tell you what the city knows at this point right now. We understand that there are two cases of Zika in Miami-Dade County. They say that there's a potential possibility that there could be a link with those two cases to Miami Beach, but nothing, and I'll repeat, nothing has been confirmed from the Florida Department of Health, by the CDC or by the county. We have not had any confirmation, and these are two cases. I know there's been talk about some kind of cluster. There is no cluster." A handful of Zika cases have been identified and health officials are deciding which area or areas to include in any updated travel guidance, the source said. An announcement is expected to be made as early as Friday.
