Pragmatic Cooperation: State Counsellor met Chinese President

Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi in Beijing on Friday.

The meeting focused on deepening the pragmatic cooperation, aiming to benefit the people of two countries and gain win-win results. President also promised to support for Myanmar peace process.

The State Counsellor also met with Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang on the same day.

The Chairman of NPC said the National People's Congress of China will adhere to the guideline for the neighborhood diplomacy, featuring amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness and paying high attention to the relationship, increase friendly exchanges and strengthen coordination and cooperation.

The State Counsellor also said Myanmar will continue its friendly policy toward China, reinforce the cooperation with China in the legislative and other fields as well as constantly enhance the relations and friendship between the two peoples.

Earlier in the day, the State Counsellor met with officials of Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) at the Diaoyutia State Guest House.

She later enjoyed Chinese traditional tea together with the International Affairs Minister of the Communist Party of China. She also greeted the youths who performed with the musical concert.

On the afternoon, the State Counsellor held a press conference on the goodwill visit to China.

The State Counsellor will leave Beijing today, to stop at northwestern Shaanxi province and then southwestern Yunnan province.
