Pray For Tragedy: People In Yangon Express Condolences For Ferry Capsize

A group of people in Yangon expressed condolences by praying for the deaths of passengers in the ferry capsize in the Chindwin River in upper Myanmar.

According to the source, Aung Soe Moe Kyaw-2 ferry left Homalin at 10.30 am on 14 October and it capsized near Kanni on its way to Monywa on the 15th. The ferry was carrying about 300 passengers when it capsized, according to survivors.

68 people including students, teachers, doctors as well as children were confirmed dead because of the accident. 

People at the praying event seemed sorry for losing of human resources of the country, saying that this tragedy was shocked to them.

Prayer like Aung Paing Soe urged the government to focus on management of water transportation to avoid such a kind of accident in future.

PRAYER, AUNG PAING SOE: We feel very sorry on that case because they all are the human resources for our country. And we don’t want such kind of tragedy to be happened again in future. So, we’d like to request the government to take action effectively to those who are concerned with this case in order not to be happened again.

On the other hand, the Union government promised to carry out a probe into the accident, and to take action to those who are responsible for this tragedy.  This incident was happened on 15th October en-route from Homalin to Monywa township. The sunken ferry was recovered on 19 October.
