Prevention Stroke: Myanmar Marks World’s Stroke Day
To mark World’s Stroke Day, an educative talks on prevention, cure and rehabilitation process of patients was held at University of Nursing in Yangon on Sunday.
One recommended stroke treatment, Endovascular procedures, was introduced to 10 patients in Myanmar and it succeeded.
But there are still some symptoms that the patient suffers after stroke, and the medical experts suggested that prevention is the most important as people of any age can suffer from stroke.
Head, Neurology Department (YGH), Dr. Myat Thu: No matter how stroke treatment is successful, it is important prevention from being stroke as there will be a certain side effect in patient. Being numb half body, unclear eyesight and difficulties in memory are examples of symptoms after stroke. Stroke can happen regardless of age so prevention is the most important.
5.7 millions people in the world have died because of stroke in 2015.
The medical experts shared the common cause of stroke, and recommended to have healthy diet, avoid smoking and do regular exercise along with the treatment.

World’s stroke day falls on October 29th and this year theme is “Stroke is treatable, lives can improve with better awareness, access, action.”
