Railroad Upgrading: Seminar On Challenges For Technological Innovation

Seminar on features of Japanese railroads and challenges for technological innovation is held at Myanmar Engineering Society, Sunday.
The seminar is hoped to help partly in upgrading Myanmar rail-road project. 
Director, Japan International Consultant for Transportation Co., Ltd., Mitsuo Higashi : Currently, Myanmar and Japanese government have agreement on upgrading projects of Yangon- Mandalay railway and Yangon circular railway with the aid of Japanese government. We are now finalizing in drawing design of railway and preparing to implement construction of railway. It will take one or two years to implement.
With the aid of JICA, maintaining railway project and replacement of old carriage by new one are in progress now. Attendees are enthused the presentation of Japanese consultant from the technical point of view.
Attendee, Dr. Wai: The presentation is so interesting to listen and it obviously shows Myanmar railway system left behind in development in compared with Japanese railway system. I think it’s still far to implement for development and this kind of seminar is good for everyone.
According to the expert, the challenges for upgrading of  Myanmar railway sector are infrastructure and human resource development and to update policies and laws which are suitable with current situation.
