Rental Apartment: Applicants Were Chosen For Maha Bandoola Housing

Yangon Region Government chose the applicants with lots drawing system for Maha Bandoola Housing Complex in Dagon Myo Thit (South) Township in Yangon, Sunday.  

1400 applicants for 1,152 rooms of Manha Bandoola renting low-cost apartment were chosen for homeless residents in Yangon at the rate of 30,000 kyats per month. 

Over 30,000 applicants applied for renting apartments at Manha Bandoola Housing Complex. It has 58 buildings facilitated with 1,152 apartment units and each apartment is 569 square ft.  

One of the applicants Daw Saw Kyin said the rental fees in this housing will save their family incomes.

Applicant, Saw Kyin: Now, I am renting a house for 70,000 kyats per month in South Dagon Township. I’m also a pensioner so I applied to get the apartment. I will have to pay 30,000 kyats for rental fees for a month here and it can save money for our family. 

The applicants are really excited to be selected and hope they will own the apartment as if they rent over 30 years due to the rule of this housing.  

Applicant, Swe Swe Han: We know if we live at the apartment over 30 years, it would be own.  I really want the apartment. If I will be chosen, I'll be really glad. I am waiting for drawing the lots to listen the winning numbers. 

The official of Yangon Region Government said they are trying to be transparent in the whole process as there are many applicants for housing.

Director, Yangon Regional Government Office, Nay Win Aung: Currently, the whole process of the housing is completed about 90% at most. So I think the winning applicants can live at the end of this month or in the first week of April. We are carrying out the draw lots system to be transparent to fulfill the needs of applicants. 

The list of selected applicants will be announced in details after ten days later at the Housing and Urban Planning Department and also Ward Administrative Offices.
