Rio opens new tunnel ahead of Olympics

Rio de Janeiro mayor inaugurated Brazil's largest underground tunnel on Sunday less than two months ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. It is 3,382 metres long and was originally scheduled for completion last December. The inauguration comes just days after Interim Rio State Governor declared a "state of calamity", saying that the state government is bankrupt and can't meet its financial obligations ahead of the Games. The Games are set to begin on August 5.
