There are 5 events for men and 3 events for women in Sepak Takraw competition defined by the host Malaysia. The participating countries are allowed to compete in 3 events for men and 2 events for women.

General Secretary, Myanmar Sepak Takraw Federation, Kyaw Zin Moe: We haven’t confirmed yet in which events we will participate in Sepak Tarkraw competition in the 29th SEA Games... But we will announce the final selection and events 3 months before SEA Games at the time when we have to register competing players.

The tentative selection players have been camping since November last year in Nay Pyi Taw. 18 men and 17 women were selected tentatively during training. Only a quarter of the players are experienced while the rest are young and new. However, the progress of the training is going well, he added.

I’m sure we completed 45% of preparation for SEA Games at this moment. So I’d like to say we will try with our best and grab wins with these new trained players.

Aside from training, Myanmar Sepak Takraw teams have so far won 6 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals in international competitions this year. The teams will also participate in Thailand King’s Cup which is considered to be the most prestigious tournament in Sepak Takraw from October 18th to 24th.

12 men and 9 women will be selected for the final players. The 29th SEA Games will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 19th to 31st in 2017.
