Summer Sailing Clinic: Recruiting New Generation

Myanmar Yachting Federation is organizing Junior Sailing Clinic at Yangon Sailing Club from the 19th to end of this month.

The Junior Sailing Clinic is a kind of training for Optimist and sharpie classes. The purpose of this training is to be more interested in yachting and sailing among the youths.

Deputy Coach, Myanmar Yachting Federation, Sai Pyae Sone Hein: Myanmar is still weak in sailing sport so we are now nurturing the new generation through such kind of trainings. Myanmar yachters won medals in South-East Asian level sailing contests but we need a lot to penetrate into the world level.  That’s why, we are recruiting new players.

34 trainees join the summer sailing clinic training and they are from at the age of 7 to 40 years.

Trainer, Optimist Class, Aung Myin Thu: 34 trainees are now learning in this course. We teach rule of sailing, parts of boat, knotting, controlling system and basic knowledge for weather forecast. The trainees are very interested in sailing. Sailing sport can provide to have both physical and mental strength as well as to improve the confidence skill.  

The enthusiasts alike young and adult can take part in the training as not only for taking physical exercise but also for relaxation.  

Trainee, Optimist Sailing Class, Han Thaw Oo: “I interested in sailing because I can gain my confidence in boating and I can go out in sail if I want when I can. I’m learning how to prepare my boat to sail, tie knotted and controlling to steer the boat.” 

The training conducts both theoretically and practically the sailing techniques and having confidence while yachting to the trainee.
