Thousands Of Pro-Houthi Supporters Protest Against Saudi-led Coalition
Thousands of pro-Houthi supporters took to the streets of Sanaa on Friday to denounce the Saudi-led coalition that intervened in Yemen's civil war last year. More than 6,000 people have been killed since the coalition campaign began to fight Iranian-allied Houthis and forces loyal to ex-president Ali Abdullah Saleh and to restore the president they ousted, Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi. Yemen's warring sides agreed to a ceasefire that began on April 10 and they are expected to begin peace talks in the Kuwaiti capital next week. The United Nations-backed talks aim to end more than a year of fighting that has plunged the impoverished country into a crippling humanitarian crisis. Saudi Arabia and the Houthi group have observed a period of calm along their common border since last month, paving the way for the truce to be reached.
