Trade Promotion: UK Stressed To Create More Business Opportunities

UK Parliamentary under secretary of State for the Department of International Trade Mark Garnier visited Myanmar to engage with local businesses community.

 According to the statistics of Directorate of Investment and Company Registration, UK investment in Myanmar ranked at fourth place with over 3.4 billion US dollars, amounting 6.4 % of total foreign investment, as of June this year. 

Garnier stressed to promote trade relations with Myanmar, and to create more business opportunities between the two countries. 

The Chairman of British Chamber of Commerce also stressed that UK will help to promote the trade and investment.

CHAIRMAN , BRITISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MYANMAR , PETER BEYNON: “UK aim is its business at large so we are presenting private business interest here in Myanmar. We can look at the number of different examples, those of the types of investments, that we have been..bringing into Myanmar. ….We are very much a lobbying organization so that we advocate the free movement trade, we advocate the ease of investment, we advocate the ..investment into Myanmar, we advocate the development of career opportunities here so that's what we wish to encourage by actively working with UK business looking to come here not only that but also the business community here.”

Earlier this month, UK business mission visited Myanmar to seek the ways to help UK companies to develop trade and investment relationships in Myanmar.
