Traffic accidents: Accidents in this year Thingyan are less than the last one

The Traffic accidents in this year’s water festival are less than the last year and only 6 traffic accidents happened in Yangon Region according to the record of Yangon Region Police-traffic Unit  from the welcoming day to the 1st Kyat Day of Thingyan.6 traffic accidents that happened during Thingyan three days caused 2 dead and 2 injured. 18 traffic accidents happened in 2014’s water festival and 7 in 2015’s water festival.No.6 Traffic-Police Unit, Lt. Police-Major Win Myint Oo: Most traffic accidents happened in this year’s water festival are normal ones. The Traffic accidents are less than the previous years. During water festival, all traffic-police units are on duty to work respectively at the junctions and most congested area so that transportation can be smooth.Along the where most big pandals are situated, traffic police conducted traffic congestion near the pandals. People also have positive attitude on that action as it makes them to go easily and safely water festival.Kyaw Thu: There are so crowded and traffic jams in front of the big pandals but some places are not crowded. Traffic police are conducting no more traffic at the crowded places especially in front of the pandals, traffic lights. That’s why, we can go easily and safely without any traffic accident.Nay Min Htet: Although we didn’t face any traffic congestion in the early morning, when the pandals are crowded with revelers, we face a little bit traffic congestion. But, the traffic police solve the problems to go safely and easily here.All these traffic accidents happened within 31 townships of city council area from 6 am to 6 pm during the official time of water throwing in Thingyan.
