Meanwhile, former 88 students seem obliterated their bad feelings concerned with the military, saying that government and public have to cooperate with the military, to get a successful national reconciliation.
88 generation activists said national reconciliation is a national issue, at which the military also plays an important role, in term of preserving national concerns.
They also urged the public and ethnics to collaborate and cooperate in the peace process, at the commemoration ceremony of August 8th uprising.
The event can be also considered as its very first time holding officially, with the government’s permission in history.
LEADER, FORMER 88 STUDENTS, THET HTUN: National reconciliation is a national issue; it deals with all, not only by the ruling government, but also by the military. People and ethnics have to collaborate with them in that case as well, because such kind of national issue can’t be handled by a group of people. All have to collaborate to achieve this for the future generation of our country.
The former 88 student also stressed to march to their goal for future development of new generation.
FORMER 88 STUDENT, KHINE MIN: We all have to look forward; we don’t need to hate each other, so that we can collaborate for implementing national reconciliation and other development cases. That is what we have to go for our new generation.
The upraising was begun as a student movement in August 8th of 1988 and lots of activists lost their lives when clashed started with the military as they are trying to control the upraising.
