Wheelchair Motorbike
Despite having no legs, Indonesian mechanic Catur Bambang is able to ride his motorcycle, having fitted the vehicle to a sidecar with foldable ramp. Bambang now manufactures the adapted vehicles for sale to other disabled users in the populous south-east Asian nation. His design allows users to wheel themselves up the ramp and shuffle their bottom onto the bike's saddle in a matter of seconds before driving away. He developed the vehicle alongside his wife who is unable to walk following a traffic accident. Bambang's business has grown rapidly since his work was featured on Indonesian national television. The cost of each modification varies from between 3.5 million and 9 million rupiah ($270 - 700 USD). The rate depends on the model, technical difficulties, and type of steel required. Motorcycles are seen as the most affordable transportation mode in Jakarta, while offering riders a quick way to navigate the heavy traffic of the Indonesian capital.
