Winter weather hits Latakia refugee camp

A powerful winter storm has swept through parts of Syria, covering the area with white blanket and forcing thousands who fled their country's civil war to huddle for warmth in refugee camps. Many refugees live in makeshift settlements some have basic shelters made from wood and plastic sheets taken from billboards. According to Arabiaweather.com Syria has been witnessing an arctic storm since the beginning of January that led to snowfall in centre and northern parts of Syria.  Heavy snowfalls are expected to return to the country later in the week.
