Youth Policy: Education, Health & Job Opportunities Prioritized In The Survey

Top priorities on the access to Education and Health as well as the Job opportunities are the key findings through the report of Yangon Region Youth Policy Team, released on Sunday.

Yangon Region Youth Policy Team conducted the survey in order to know the needs and challenges of youths from Yangon Region.

In cooperation with the concerned ministry, the team has already organized the workshops at all 4-District in Yangon Region, and made discussion on 11 topics.

It’s also hoped to describe the outputs from the workshop while drawing youth policy which is led by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, through the report.

Around 500 youths and 83 volunteers participated and discussed at the workshops and campaigns.

Member, Yangon Region Youth Policy Team, Thida Hlaing: Then we also put the good and weak points in our report. It will help the Government and CSOs in fulfilling needs and wishes of youths, and also in drafting laws and regulations. Then, the youth will also know and be aware how can they participate for the development of youth sector.

But the organizer stressed that participation of youth in the process is still weak and said the report cannot represent all requirements of youth from the whole region.

Member, Yangon Region Youth Policy Team, Thida Hlaing: The participation of youth is weak, we describe the right views and suggestions of the youths who joined the workshops and campaign. So, we faced some difficulties in discussing all the issues of youths.

The report will be submitted to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in order to get reference in drafting the youth policy.
