Yangon Parliament: Proposal To Publicize Flyover Budget Unapproved

The 3rd session of Yangon Region Parliament continued Wednesday.

MPs raised questions on construction of bus stops near Yangon Region East and West district courts, roads construction in South Okkalapa and North Okkalapa Townships, upgrading schools in Thingyan Gyun Township, job opportunities for people with disabilities and forming an Independent Investigation Commission to prevent torturing on children.

The parliament approved the proposal on handling the conflict or sensitive problems by authorities in the ways not to harm the public and recorded it. Publicizing budget spent on built flyovers was unapproved by the parliament.

Dr. Nyo Nyo Thin who submitted the proposal on budget publication claimed that the parliament should record the proposal if they don’t want to approve it.

HLUTTAW REPRESENTATIVE, BAHAN TOWNSHIP CONSTITUENCY (2), DR. NYO NYO THIN: The public should know the budget spending for the flyovers projects clearly. If the parliament couldn’t publicize the budget to the public, they should explain in details of the budget spending to the parliament representatives. It could prove the government transparency and responsibility. But the parliament even didn’t record the proposal, so I want to say that this is not proper with Democracy norm.

The parliament will continue the 4th day session on Friday.
