Referral Mechanism: Workshop Discussed How To Support Trafficked Persons

A workshop on Developing a National Referral Mechanism (NRM) for Providing Direct Assistance to Victims of Trafficking
was held at the Grand Amara Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. Deputy director-general of the Social Welfare Department presented progress of work for the protection of the victims of human trafficking, including the recruitment of a task force and the reintegration and rehabilitation of victims. The workshop was attended by officials of Social Welfare Department, police officers, IOM staff and
members of other civil society organizations who took part in the discussion on establishment of a national referral mechanism to support trafficked persons.
