Business Growth: US Companies Welcome US Pledge On Lifting Sanctions

One of US companies invested in Myanmar, General Electric shows its strong support upon the United States’ pledge to lift all remaining sanctions against Myanmar. The statement release on September 15 said the lifting of sanctions will improve the ease of doing business in the country. The statement also said that the removal of sanctions could attract more foreign direct investment in the country, and create jobs to improve living standard. GE was one of the first American companies to reenter Myanmar upon the easing of U.S. economic sanctions, resuming commercial operations in 2012 and opening its office in Yangon in May 2013. Currently, it has invested in power supply, health care and aviation services in Myanmar.
