Mingalabar Festival: Raising Awareness For Urban Development
Marking the 55th year of the cultural relations between Myanmar and France, the French Institute and Yangon Region Government is going to organize Mingalabar, a multidisciplinary festival in Yangon in December.
The festival aims to raise public awareness on urban planning as well as to understand to love the city inhabitant.
During the festival, the two giant puppets will parade around the city, and the public can enjoy the performances and live shows including circus, concerts, street art, video mapping, firework and dance presented by a hundreds of French and Myanmar artists.
Head of Cooperation , Embassy of France , Charles Bonhomme : “So, by this festival we want to give back the city to the People and stop the car and stop the traffic in the street. And, let the people go with a keep in safety so that can benefits from that and go out in the street and go lessen to the consulting to the public park and the fly over project is part of that and it is a big public space and we want to give it inhabitant. “
This is the very first of its kind, holding in Yangon, and the Regional Government hopes to attract public participation for urban development.
Minister , Yangon Region Ministry of Kayin Ethnic Affairs, Naw Pan Thinzar Myo: By celebrating this festival, the world will be known more about Yangon and they can see the development of the city, and it will help to attract more tourists for boosting tourism industry and investment. We hope a lot from this festival.
The festival activity including construction of puppet and art project at Myaynigone flyover will begin in mid November, and the festival is going to be held for three day from December 2nd to 4th.
